This must be our most eagerly anticipated sugar free recipe. After months of failed attempts at creating a sugar free chocolate cake recipe, we finally did it. This sugar free chocolate dessert will satisfy any chocolatey cravings. The cake is rich and sweet, made using all natural ingredients. It's a chocolate cake recipe with honey instead of sugar! Never have the words healthy chocolate cake been in the same sentence. We have had so many requests for a no sugar chocolate cake recipe, and we can finally say here it is.
Whisk the eggs really well first until completely smooth.
Then melt your butter and honey, a few seconds in the microwave usually does the trick.
Whisk the honey and butter into the eggs, again make sure the mix is totally combined, them whisk in the vanilla extract and the sugar free chocolate sauce if using. We use one that is unrefined, with all natural ingredients, it contains carob and apple for the sweetness. Here's the one I used if you'd like to buy it on eBay.
Once your chocolate cake mix is smooth and glossy, whisk in the flour and cocoa powder. You will end up with a thick cake batter, this dessert is rich and chocolatey when baked.
Scrape the cake mix into two oiled non-stick cake tins, smooth over then bake for 20 minutes.
When they are done, the cake will feel firm but slightly springy in the centre. When your cakes are cooled, place the first cake upside down on the serving plate so you get a straight line when you slice it.
Spread half the chocolate cream frosting in the centre, then add the other cake and top with the rest of the frosting. Here's the recipe for the chocolate icing. Also you could slice each cake in two before assembling to make a chocolate cake with four layers for a more impressive dessert recipe.

- 180 grams Self Raising Flour
- 50 grams Cocoa Powder
- 100 grams Honey
- 130 grams Butter
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 3 Eggs
- 40 grams Sugar Free Chocolate Sauce (Optional)
- Preheat Oven to Gas Mark 5 (190 degrees Celsius)
- Whisk the eggs, then add the melted honey, butter, sugar free chocolate sauce and vanilla extract, keep whisking until smooth
- Whisk in the flour and cocoa powder until fully combined, then divide between 2 greased 18cm / 7 inch cake tins
- Bake for 20 minutes until the cake feels firm and springy in the centre
- Allow to cool, then fill and decorate with our sugar free chocolate frosting
